Inspect your pond equipment making sure it is in good operational order. This simple checklist will help you ensure a more carefree pond season:
Check the pond liner for cracks and tears. Both a Pond Liner Patch Kit which includes a 5" x 18" adhesive patch or Firestone 6" Round Patch can repair EPDM rubber, PVC, XAVAN or polyethylene pond liner materials.
Check electrical cords for fraying or cracks. Make sure tubing is not bent or cracked, and that all plumbing connections are secure.
Check you pump by insuring the housing is intact, the water intake port is not blocked and that the impeller is in good condition. Rinse any debris from the pump and pre filter.
This time of year it is advisable to do a general cleaning and partial water exchange. The best was to do this is to remove 20 -30% of the water, clean out the debris, dead plant material and muck from the bottom and side walls of the pond.
