Directions for using Teflon plumbing tape:

Remove any loose debris off pipe. Wrap sealing tape around male thread but do not overlap open end, doing so can cause clogs and reduce water pressure. Wrap sealing tape in the direction of pipe thread, starting from the end and proceeding the length of the pipe. Wrapping in the wrong direction can cause the tape to unwind as the fitting is tightened. Start Teflon tape with a couple of loops around the end, and then wrap thread overlapping half the width of the tape on each wind. Keep seal tape tension pulled into the thread.
