The Pondmaster Floating Pond De-Icer releases toxic gases that can get trapped under pond ice buildup. Caused by decaying matter and fish waste, toxic gases in pond water occur especially in areas where typical winter temperatures result in significant or long term icing of pond surfaces. Toxic gases can result in fish death, particularly in the spring as pond ice begins to thaw.
To reduce heating time and save electricity the Pond De-Icer is thermostatically controlled. The unique doughnut shape design maintains an ice free center area that allows the accumulated toxic gases to escape from the trapped pond water. This promotes a healthier pond environment for aquatic life.
With a long 18’ power cord, the Pondmaster Floating Pond De-Icer draws only 120 watts and is designed for ponds up to 2,000 gallons in size.
